The alarm went off at 4:30 AM this morning, and Christine and I moaned with disapproval. However, our full day in Chiang Rai was only possible because of the early flight we took to get there, so for that we are grateful.
As soon as we landed our first stop was at the Rinkok Resort, where we got on yet another boat! The Northern Thailand Country side is absolutely beautiful.
Our relaxing boat ride led us to the elephants!
The country side seen on our elephant ride!
Jamie and Julia!
We named this extremely photogenic elephant Jeffrey.
After we rode elephants we took the vans to the Singha tea farm. It was BEAUTIFUL.
There were giraffes to feed!
Our view from where we ate dinner at the tea farm.
A guitar, bango, and string bass provide live entertainment!
They played/sang "Country Road" for us along with some songs by the Beatles and the Eagles.
Cheese cakes for dessert!
Our favorite fried bananas with ice cream! Lilly was pretty excited.
We left the restaurant feeling extremely stuffed. Even though it is a pretty early end to our day it seems late because we have been up so long. Not a bad first day up in the North of Thailand!
