There was no plan for the day, and it was nice because we had just done two full days of sightseeing. I slept in and hung around the apartment. A group of us lounged by the pool and swam under the cloudy sky. When time for lunch finally came around, we walked to the busy street closest to the apartment in search for food.
A very nice Australian convinced us that we needed to go the Salaya market, which was just a bus ride away. Excited to get authentic food and fresh fruit, we jumped on a bus headed in the right direction.
There must have been some miscommunication (almost like there is a language barrier or something?) because the bus left Salaya and was headed to Bangkok! It took us about 10 minutes to realize we probably passed the market, so we quickly got off the bus. Kara asked a man what stop the market was on and he told us 515. We started walking back the way we came until a bus with 515 on the side came up. That bus DID take us to the market!
This is half of a sausage covered in a waffle. I had already eaten half of it before I remembered to take a picture.
SO much wonderful fresh fruit at the market! This is the most delicious pineapple anyone will ever have.
Since we no longer trusted public transportation, we thought we would try to walk back to the apartment. We found Mahidol University fairly easily, then asked around to see if anyone knew which way to get to Bundit Place. After probably an hour of wandering around and asking for directions, we found the road that takes us back to our apartment. As soon as we got back it was straight back to the pool for a swim and laundry time! We had the rest of the evening to relax after our stressful excursion getting lost in Salaya. For dinner we didn't venture too far, but found a vendor that was set up "restaurant style" called Made to Order and the food was delicious!
I only got a dessert, because I wasn't too hungry, but this Sweet waffle is good!
Good food. Good Company.
At the end of the day, we were still tired. Jet lag is starting to go away, but we have been going non stop for so long it might be a while before we aren't feeling it around 10:00 PM. Next week starts a new portion of our Study abroad experience: the actual studying part!
